MLA Narinder Kaur Bharaj and Deputy Commissioner Jitendra Jorwal distributes aids and appliances to disabled persons

Artificial limbs and mechanical aids worth 60 lakh provided free of cost to 228 disabled persons

Sangrur : District Administration Sangrur in collaboration with District Disability Rehabilitation Center Sangrur and Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO) distributed support material to 228 disabled persons of the district.

MLA Sangrur Constituency Narinder Kaur Bharaj attended the event as the chief guest and along with Deputy Commissioner Jitendra Jorwal, she distributed 501 assistive devices worth Rs. 60.31 lakh to the disabled persons from all sub-divisions during the massive social empowerment camp organized at the local Parul Palace.

Speaking on the occasion, MLA Narinder Kaur Bharaj said that the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is working for the welfare of all sections. She said that if any part of one’s body is missing or not working, one has to face a lot of difficulties and these support materials will certainly help in reducing the daily difficulties of the needy to some extent.

She said that the Punjab government is also committed to the welfare of the disabled persons and such efforts will be continued in the future. Deputy Commissioner Jitendra Jorwal thanked ALIMCO Mohali for its contribution in providing supporting materials to suit the needs of these beneficiaries for this initiative.
He said that today, 94 motorised tricycles, 48 tricycles, 42 folding wheelchairs, 152 crutches, 30 walking sticks, 6 rollators, 40 ear machines, 6 MSIEDs. The kit includes 81 prosthetic limbs, 1 smart cane and 1 smart phone have been provided to the needy.
He said that special camps were organized regularly in the district to identify the needy for supporting materials and last year, these needy were identified during the camps organized at sub-divisions.
Finally, ALIMCO Deputy Manager Ishwinder Singh shared his words of thanks. On this occasion, Assistant Commissioner Devdarshdeep Singh, District Social Security Officer Loveleen Kaur Baring, Ashok Kumar Sahu from ALIMCO Mohali, Mintu Bansal and a large number of Divyangjans and their family members were also present.
