Ghaggar Breach to be plugged soon, says Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain

Flood Affected People Need not to Worry, Administration will tackle the situation diligently, says DC Ashika Jain

Alamgir (Derabassi) : Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain said that the breaches that appeared at Alamgir and other places would be plugged soon as the water started receding gradually. Now only the fields remain inundated in flooded water while the houses are safe.
Visiting the flood affected areas along with SSP Dr Sandeep Garg, ADC (UD) Damandeep Singh Mann and SDM Himanshu Gupta, she said that there is no human loss barring washing away the paddy crop in the nearby villages as the announcements were being made for the last three days to caution people of the probable breach due to inflow of more water.
Many of the people were rescued in time, while the others preferred to stay at their villages at safer places, she added. She said the breach has affected the nearby villages of Alamgir including Sadhawala, Dandehra, Khajur Mandi, Tiwana, Bahora and Bahori etc.
While visting Alamagir, Sarsini and Khajur Mandi, she assured the residents of fulsome support from the administration side by adding that the SDM Derabassi Himanshu Gupta has already camped there for the last few days to monitor the situation as well as the ongoing strengthening work of Tiwana embankment.
Applauding the services rendered by the NDRF and Army to rescue the residents of the area, she said that in fact the NDRF and Army persons have extended exemplary support to administration in rescuing the people from Rakoli, Rurka, Gumohar City Extension Derabassi and many other waterlogged areas to safer places.
She directed the revenue and rural development officials indulging in relief and rescue here to ensure supply of the drinking water and other eatables to the residents staying at their homes uninterruptedly. She said the NDRF and Army persons would stay here till the normalcy returned.
She said the road connectivity that is inaccessible due to waterlogged will be resumed after receding of the water level. Till then the relief and medical services would be made available through tractors.
SSP Dr Sandeep Garg said that the police personnel have been directed to support the efforts of the district administration dedicatedly so that manpower does not lack. He said that besides the police personnel are also actively participating at other rescue and relief operations with the civil administration besides monitoring the situation.
DC Aashika, SSP Garg, ADC Mann and SDM Himanshu also visited the waterlogged area by a tractor and talked to the Sarpanch of the village Sirsini and residents of Khajur Mandi whose homes also surrounded by flooded water. Tehsildar Kuldeep Singh Dhillon and Naib Tehsildar Harinder jit Singh besides Executive Engineer Drainage Rajat Grover were also present there.
Deputy Commissioner while interacting with the villagers gave assurance to them of the 24X7 support from the district administration besides to assess the loss of their crops after receding the water.
