Helping the less privileged – Central University of Punjab employees donated essential Medical Supplies

Refrigerators and Computer Equipment to Community Health Centre, Sangat and Sub Divisional Hospital Ghudda

Bathinda : With the aim to serve the humanity during the situation of COVID-19 second wave in which hospitals are facing scarcity of resources, Central University of Punjab, Bathinda (CUPB) donated essential medicines, Refrigerators, Computer Set and Printer to Community Health Centre, Sangat Tehsil and Sub Divisional Hospital Ghudda Village. CUPB Officials, faculty and staff members voluntarily contributed a sum of Rs 2.75 Lakhs to help the less privileged during the situation of health emergency and these items were precured from the voluntary contributions. The items that were donated to Community Health Centre, Sangat included essential medical supplies related to COVID management, 1 Refrigerator (185 Ltr capacity), 1 Computer Set and 1 Printer. In addition to this, 1 Refrigerator (185 Ltr capacity) was provided to Sub Divisional Hospital, Ghudda for storage of medicines and other items. The above items purchased from the voluntary contribution were handed over by Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari, the Vice Chancellor, to Dr. Anju Kansal, SMO, Community Health Centre, Sangat and Dr. Navdeep Kaur Sran, SMO, Sub Divisional Hospital Ghudda on May 18, 2021.It is pertinent to mention here that under the patronage of Vice Chancellor Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari, the Central University of Punjab has taken noble initiatives at regular intervals to support the community during the COVID-19 crisis. Earlier, the university has supported District Administration Bathinda and All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Bathinda by handing over 26 Oxygen Cylinders (in total) from their Research Labs to ensure timely oxygen supply to the needy and saving important lives.
While receiving the above items, Dr. Anju Kansal, SMO, Community Health Centre, Sangat and Dr. Navdeep Kaur Sran, SMO, Sub Divisional Hospital Ghudda thanked the Vice Chancellor and University employees on behalf of their Hospitals staff members for providing essential supplies which will help them in providing better healthcare services to the community.CUPB Vice Chancellor Prof. Tiwari appreciated the effort of employees who joined this initiative with their voluntary contribution. He stated that CUPB and its employees are committed to serve the society and to augment the efforts of GOI to help our country during this health emergency. He mentioned that both these Hospitals have provided their services to the University by conducting Mass COVID testing and Vaccination Drive for faculty staff and students and now it’s our turn to express our gratitude towards Doctors and COVID Frontline Worriers for their selfless service by supporting them with essential supplies.He emphasized that to combat the second wave of COVID, we should strictly practice COVID appropriate behaviour, follow Centre/ State Govt / District Administration Guidelines, help the needy persons and support each other.On this occasion, Shri K.P.S. Mundra, the Registrar, Prof. R.K. Wusirika, Dean Incharge Academics, Prof. V.K. Garg, Dean Student Welfare, Ms. Shweta Arora, Deputy Registrar, Dr. Vinod Pathania, Dr. Gaurav Tandon, Asst. Registrar, Dr. Rabindra, Technical Officer, Mr. Robin Jindal, Public Relation Officer, Mr. Sahil Puri, Block Health Educator and staff members of both the Hospitals were present
