District Administration ensures all-out effort for smooth procurement after heavy rainfall

Five procurement centers of Kharar made fully functional

Mohali : After the heavy downpour of yesterday, the District Administration today puts its all-out effort to ensure smooth procurement in every procurement center of the district.Disclosing this here today, the Deputy Commissioner Isha Kalia said that the water from five centers of Kharar already cleared and arrangements were being made in other centers too. Assuring farmers to compensate for the loss caused to their standing paddy crop in the fields by the untimely heavy downpour, she said that the administration had made proper arrangements in all the centers of the district, which did not cause any major problem due to rains and if there was any problem in secluded places, the arrangements have been made there to seamless procurement.

Urging the farmers to bring dry paddy in the procurement centers, Ms. Kalia said that this downpour would increase the moisture content in the paddy but the farmers should bring the crop in the Mandis only after drying it properly so that they do not face any issue to sell the same. She said that the Mandis were well equipped with tarpaulins and Bardana (Gunny Bags) and the administration ensured that farmers would not face any difficulty selling the crop.The Deputy Commissioner said that the state government led by Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi has ordered a special Girdawari to assess the damage of the crops so that farmers can get the compensation accordingly. She informed that the timely procurement, payment and lifting being ensured in the district.
