Deputy Commissioner Surabhi Malik reviews arrangements for state level Independence Day function

Ludhiana : Deputy Commissioner Surabhi Malik on Thursday reviewed the arrangements for the state level Independence Day celebrations in which Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann will unfurl the national flag on August 15 at local Guru Nanak stadium.

Chairing a meeting here in Bachat Bhawan, the Deputy Commissioner held detailed deliberations on hoisting of tricolour, security, traffic, parking arrangements, cultural programs, uninterrupted power supply, proper sanitation, medical facilities etc with heads of various departments.

She also fixed the duties of senior officers to supervise the preparations closely to ensure this national event was celebrated with full enthusiasm and in a befitting manner.

Malik said that a committee headed by Land Acquisition Collector (LAC) of LIT Neeru Katyal Gupta would decide the cultural items to be performed by the students of various schools/ colleges of the district.

She also directed the Municipal Corporation Ludhiana to ensure proper cleanliness around the venue of the function, sprinkle water on roads leading to the stadium and ensure temporary urinal and mobile toilets for participants during the event.

She also asked Commissionerate Police to make necessary arrangements for maintaining law and order during the event.The Deputy Commissioner said that full dress rehearsal would be held on August 13 and rehearsals for the cultural programs would begin from August 9.
