MP Sanjeev Arora takes meeting with DC, MC, GLADA & District Police on various issues regarding Ludhiana

Ludhiana : AAP MP (Rajya Sabha) Sanjeev Arora held a meeting of officials of various government departments at Bachat Bhawan here on Friday. Deputy Commissioner Surabhi Malik, MC Commissioner Dr Shena Aggarwal, ADC Amarjeet Bains and officials from the departments including Municipal Corporation, GLADA, NHAI, PWD, Punjab Police and PSPCL were present in the meeting.
Arora reviewed the progress of various ongoing development projects including Elevated Road, Ludhiana-Rajpura Highway, Ludhiana-Bathinda Highway, Southern Bypass, Lodhi Club Road coming under GLADA, Joining of Bhadurke with Ludhiana-Rajpura Highway, Halwara Airport, Sports facility lying idle at Pakhowal Road and comments on existing ESIC hospital upgradation as promised by Central Government and relaying of roads in Focal Point and other parts of the city.
He also directed the officials to complete the ongoing development projects in a time-bound manner. He also directed the officials to complete all the formalities related to projects including construction of four bridges on the Sidhwan Canal.
Arora showed his displeasure when NHAI officials said that completion of elevated road may be delayed by 4 to 6 weeks. Ashok Kumar Sharma, Project Director of NHAI assured that by the end of June all ramps will be completed.
Only there will be a bit of delay on joining ISBT road & Jagroan Bridge. Arora categorically asked the NHAI officials to complete the pending work of roads and elevated road as per the deadlines so that people could not face any kind of inconvenience regarding traffic.
After receiving update Arora complimented District Administration on getting possession of land to NHAI for completion of their projects at a quicker pace than before. He requested all concerned to speed up this process more by taking into confidence all the stake holders.
Arora pointed out that a large number of industrial units are located along Bhadurke Road, but connectivity is not too good. He asked Ashok Kumar Sharma, Project Director of NHAI to make a proposal for connecting Bhadurke with NHAI Ludhiana-Rajpura Highway to take up with Ministry and get it sanctioned.
Personnel from GLADA also assured that the road coming under them from Lodhi Club to Sidhwan Canal passing through Pakhowal road will be completed soon. According to them, work is going on. PWD officers assured us that Halwara Airport work is going on at a fast pace and it should be complete in all manners in the next 8-12 weeks.
There are some approvals required from Airports Authority of India (AAI), which Arora has assured to take up next week with Secretary Civil Aviation and get done. He also took comments from Civil Surgeon & Director on upgradation of ESI Hospital from 300 beds to 500 beds.
He said the Union Labour and Employment Minister Bhupender Yadav has already assured him to upgrade this hospital as the state-of-the-art hospital. He said Punjab Government has already issued a necessary letter in this regard to the Union Government.
Further Arora asked Municipal Commissioner Dr Shena Agarwal to make a proposal which is feasible so that sports facility lying idle on Pakhowal Road can be utilized for the good of youth and citizens at large. Arora categorically asked the officials to approach him without any hesitation if they find any kind of difficulty or hinderance in conducting the work so that he may take up the matter with the concerned higher authorities.
He told the officials that no development work should be stopped or withheld without this or that reason. “I want execution of all development works in a speedy manner,” he said. He strongly directed the officials that all the development works should be done in a qualitative manner and no compromise regarding quality of construction and material would be tolerated.
