AAP government making all out efforts to make Mandi Board a profitable institute: Harchand Singh Barsat

12000 trees will be planted on the empty land adjacent to the mandis, guest houses will be renovated: Mandi Board Chairman

Chandigarh : Slamming the previous governments and chairmen for neglecting the Mandis of Punjab, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab General Secretary and Mandi Board Chairman Harchand Singh Barsat said that under the leadership of Mann government, all out efforts have been made to revive the Mandi Board to make it a profitable institution.

Harchand Singh Barsat, while addressing a press conference from the head office along with Party State Secretary Dr. Sunny Ahluwalia, Gurdev Singh Lakha, Rajwinder Kaur Thiara, Amandeep Singh Mohi and Shaminder Singh Khinda, said the Rs 48 crore revenue will be generated by e-auctioning the AC market in the sector 65.

He said that orders have been given to ensure utilization of all the guest houses built by the Market Committees and Mandi Board. He said that 37 market committees which have adequate space to install ATMs are being coordinated with banks to install ATMs there for generating revenue.

The Chairman of the Mandi Board further said that there is a plan to clean and plant 12000 trees in the empty places along with the Mandis, where the garbage is piled up, which will later bring financial benefits to the Mandi Board.

He said that there is a possibility of 132 lakh metric tons of wheat crop in Punjab in the Hari season for which the Mandi Board is making adequate preparations. He instructed the field officers and workers to make arrangements for the season so that farmers and farmers do not face any problem.

Harchand Barsat criticized the BJP for not releasing the pending 2880 crore rural development fund to the central government and said that the Modi government should release this fund as soon as possible for the development of the mandis so that the work of the mandis in Punjab continues smoothly without any hindrance.

On the completion of one year of the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab, the state general secretary Harchand Barsat congratulated the office bearers, volunteers and workers of the party and said that it was due to the hard work of all of them that the government led by Bhagwant Mann registered a landslide victory.

He said that in one year the party has lived up to the expectations of the people of Punjab and his government has fulfilled almost all its guarantees and remaining will be fulfilled soon.
