Crops are still in the fields and compensation is being distributed for the loss: Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO

Jalandhar : The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in the state is the first government to distribute cheques of compensation money for the losses of the farmers due to heavy and untimely rains while the crop is still in the field, said AAP cabinet minister Harbhajan Singh ETO.

The AAP minister was addressing a press conference in Jalandhar with the party’s district president Amritpal Singh, state secretary Rajwinder Kaur Thiara and party spokesperson Ahbaab Grewal. ETO said that the chief minister Bhagwant Mann gave the compensation cheques to the farmers of Abohar on Baisakhi.

Special Girdawari is under process in the whole state and soon all the farmers will get the compensation for their losses. The AAP leader said that it is the first time that cheques are not issued in the name of the owner of land but to the farmers who cultivated crops in that field.

That way the compensation money is actually reaching the right people.He said that 10% compensation money is reserved for the labourers and workers because they’re also facing tough financial situations due to incessant rain and hailstorm.

ETO said that during previous governments only selected people or communities used to get benefits. But Bhagwant Mann led Aam Aadmi Party government is giving 600 units of free electricity per bill without any discrimination.

He added that before, there used to be exploitation of poor people in the name of the load of meter (kilowatt). But since the formation of the Aam Aadmi Party government the exploitation of the poor people has been stopped.

About the education reforms being done by the Mann government, Harbhajan Singh ETO said that since the formation of honest AAP government in the state, 2-3 times more students have enrolled for SC scholarship.

10 upsc training centres and two medical Colleges in Kapurthala and Hoshiarpur will be opened. 117 schools of Eminence to be built and government schools are being rejuvenated so that the children of poor families can get quality education, become officers and uplift the downtrodden and poor people.

The AAP leader said that the Aam Aadmi Party and our convenor Arvind Kejriwal follow the ideology of Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar. He said that today every government office has the photos of Shaheed Bhagat Singh and Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar because we get inspiration from them to do good for the people and our state.

Mentioning the achievements of their government he said that the Mann government gave 28,000 plus jobs and all are regular. More than 9500 acres of land freed from illegal encroachment. He added that the Mann government is working honestly for Punjab and more pro-people decisions will be taken in future too.
