Launches Smart Village Campaign, Lays Foundation Stones Of Development Works In Villages

Punjab Industries and Commerce Minister Sunder Sham Arora on Saturday rolled out the second phase of Smart Village Campaign for various development works in villages of district at a cost of Rs. 20.62 crore.While launching the phase-II of Smart Village Campaign here by laying the foundation stones of various development works in villages Bajwara, Shergarh, Adamwal and Ajjowal, the Minister said that as many as 201 various development works would be accomplished in 159 villages of the district at a cost of Rs. 20.62 crore. Hoshiarpur : Punjab Industries and Commerce Minister Sunder Sham Arora on Saturday rolled out the second phase of Smart Village Campaign for various development works in villages of district at a cost of Rs. 20.62 crore.While launching the phase-II of Smart Village Campaign here by laying the foundation stones of various development works in villages Bajwara, Shergarh, Adamwal and Ajjowal, the Minister said that as many as 201 various development works would be accomplished in 159 villages of the district at a cost of Rs. 20.62 crore. Pointing out further, the Minister said that these development works mainly included construction of streets, drains, community centre, gymnasiums, cleaning of village ponds, construction in the premises of schools/anganwari centres, installation of street lights, ensuring supply of potable water, construction at dharamshalas, cremation grounds, disposal of sullage water etc.Following the virtual inauguration of the second phase of smart village campaign at the cost of Rs 2774 crore by the Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh, the Industries Minister personally went to said villages to initiate the SVC phase-II.Congratulating the people on Navratras festival, the Minister stated that the works were being started on this auspicious day to ensure holistic development in villages as envisioned by the State Government. He said that the SVC campaign would definitely ensure complete facelift of the village thereby these rural areas of the state would usher in new era of development.
The Cabinet Minister said Rs 835 crore spent by the Punjab government in 2019 on 19132 developmental works under Phase-I of SVC and 48910 works would be executed under the second phase at a cost of Rs 2774 crore.The Minister said that in Hoshiarpur blocks 1 & 2, Rs 1.96 crore would be spent for developmental works in nine villages including Rs 7.80 lakh for streets/drains in Adamwal, Rs 8 lakh and Rs 10 lakh for Ajjowal and Bajwara villages, Rs 18 lakh for development works in Navin Colony Chohal, Rs 15 lakh for Dada village, Rs 36 lakh for Jahankhelan village, Rs 5 lakh for cremation ground and Rs 25 lakh for streets/drains in Mehlanwali village, Rs 28 lakh for the community centre and streets/drains in Nangal Shaheeda village and Rs 35 lakh for cremation ground and streets/drains in Shergarh village.Reiterating the commitment of Punjab Government led by Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh for the all round development of the village, he said that Rs 205 crore is being spent in Hoshiarpur for providing facilities on par with urban areas by the government in the villages of which Rs 31 crore would be spent on labour works under MGNREGA.On the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Apneet Riyait, SSP Navjot Mahal, Additional Deputy Commissioner (D) Harbir Singh and DDPO Sarbjeet Singh Bains were present.
20.62 Crore for 201 developmental works in 10-blocks
Under the Smart Village Campaign Phase-II, the State Government incur Rs. 1.06 crore on 15 different works in Block Bhunga and Rs 3.28 crore in Hajipur block. Likewise, funds to the tune of Rs 1.42 Crore, Rs 2.71 crore, Rs 2.25 crore, Rs 1.66 crore, Rs 1.02 crore, Rs 1.91 crore and Rs 1.72 crore would be spent on different 16 works respectively in blocks of Talwara, Garhshankar, Mahilpur, Dasuya, Hoshiarpur-1, Tanda and Mukerian. Similarly, Rs. 3.59 crore has been set aside for developmental works in Block Hoshiarpur-2 for completion of different 31 works.
