Tragedy Strikes Hyderabad as Building Fire Claims Six Lives

Hyderabad : A devastating fire erupted in a multi-storied building in the heart of Hyderabad on Monday, resulting in the tragic loss of six lives and injuries to several others. The fire is believed to have originated from chemical drums stored on the ground floor, quickly spreading to the upper floors and trapping occupants. The incident unfolded in the Bazar Ghat area in Nampally.
In swift response to the emergency, four fire tenders rushed to the scene, successfully extinguishing the flames. Fire services and Disaster Response Force personnel carried out rescue operations, saving 21 individuals who were promptly shifted to nearby hospitals.
Unfortunately, Director of Fire Safety Nagi Reddy confirmed that six of those rescued had succumbed to the incident, with 10 others found in an unconscious state.According to Reddy, the chemical responsible for constructing the fiber bodies of coolers was unlawfully stored in the stilt floor of the stilt+4 floor building situated in a residential area.
“In all probability, the fire started because of the chemical and spread to the upper floor,” stated Reddy, emphasizing that investigations were underway to determine the exact cause of the fire.Deputy Commissioner of Police Venkateshwarlu revealed that a spark from a car undergoing repairs on the ground floor triggered the fire.
Preliminary investigations suggest that six individuals tragically lost their lives due to suffocation as smoke engulfed the upper floors. The building housed six families across the first, second, and third floors, with no occupants on the fourth floor. While the structure did not fall under the high-rise category, officials assume it had the necessary building permissions.
However, the storage of the chemical is suspected to have been illegal. The fire services received the call about the incident at 9:35 a.m., although reports indicate that the fire likely started around 8:30 a.m. Investigations into the incident continue.
