Kathua Administration kickstarts spraying of Crop across border fence in Hiranagar

Kathua : Taking a step further towards the prosperity of farmers of border areas, Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rahul Pandey today kick-started spraying of Mash Crop sown first time over 151 acre of land across the fence along Indo Pak International border in Hiranagar Sector.

The Deputy Commissioner was accompanied by DDC Member (Marheen), Karan Attri, Chief Agriculture Officer, Kathua Sanjeev Rai Gupta, District Agriculture Officer (Ext) Kathua and other concerned officers.

The Deputy Commissioner lauded the efforts of the agriculture department for extending support to the farmers. He said the use of state of art machinery will reduce the cost of cultivation which will help in doubling the farmers’ income.

The DDC Member (Marheen) appealed to the farmers to make close liaison with the Department of Agriculture to get maximum benefit of the government schemes being implemented by the Agriculture Department.

He appreciated the District administration for taking up the initiative for sowing of Kharif crop 2022 in border areas. Chief Agriculture Officer, Kathua assured that the department of agriculture will continue to provide timely technical guidance and support to the farmers so as to explore the scope of mix farming in border areas.

He further informed that the maiden activity was undertaken by the department by using Modern machinery, Tractor driven Boomer Sprayer along with Booster.

“The weedicide was provided free of cost to the farmers by the Department and a selective herbicide is being applied as post-emergent treatment after 25 days of sowing” the CAO added.
