10th NCORD meeting held in Doda

Doda : District Magistrate Doda, Vishesh Paul Mahajan today presided over 10th district level Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) Committee meeting convened to review measures taken to combat drug abuse in the District.Speaking at the meeting, the DM directed SDMs, Tehsildars, SDPOs to work in coordination to tighten the noose around perpetrators and drug traffickers, besides rehabilitation of drug addicts.
The DM also discussed the setting up of new Drug de- addiction Centres and Rehabilitation centers in the district. He asked the concerned officers to distribute the drug testing kits in school and other areas which are vulnerable to drug addiction.
SSP, Abdul Qayoom said that the wildly grown cannabis in the district especially in sensitive areas needs to be destroyed. He said the Police department has taken many effective measures to break the supply chain of drug peddlers to ensure complete check on drug supply. He said that the drug peddlers are being strictly dealt with under the relevant provisions of law.
The DM also directed the Forest, Agriculture and other concerned departments to come up with a proposal for cultivation of useful vegetation to replace the wild cannabis in the area where it grows naturally.The meeting was attended by ADDC, ADC, ACP , ACR, CEO , CAO, SDM Thathri and CPO, besides ADC Bhadarwah, SDMs, Tesildars, SDPOs and other concerned officials attended the meeting through virtual mode.
