Poonch Development Authority hosts one day trekking expedition

Poonch : A One day trekking expedition camp was today organised by the Poonch Development Authority in collaboration with the Directorate of Tourism, District Administration Poonch, J&K Academy of Art Culture and Language, Rajouri and Social Welfare Department, under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.The camp took off from Haribuddha and traversed through enchanting valleys to reach Jabbi Toti which is an unexplored Tourist destination endowed with enchanting natural beauty.Around 300 local trekkers were part of this trekking. Chief Executive Officer PDA (Tourism), Dr. Mohammad Tanveer said that the main aim of this camp was to explore Tourism potential of Peer Panchal, especially in the Poonch district.He said such types of events would provide an opportunity to youth to understand their ability, patience, and weakness and to improve their skills which would help them in their future.

During the camp, the special officer for cultural activities (SOCA) Rajouri/ Poonch, Dr. Alamdar Adam organised a Cultural event at Jabbi Toti in which local artists presented folk music, Geets, Baits and enthralled the trekkers and local people.The local trekkers thanked the CEO Poonch Development Authority, District Administration Poonch, Directorate of Tourism Jammu and Special officer for cultural Activities Rajouri/Poonch for providing them the opportunity to know about local folk Lores, Geets in Regional languages and the history of this place, besides exploring the tourism potential spots.A cleanliness programme, “Swachata Hi Sewa ” was also launched on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti to promote cleanliness awareness among the locals. The volunteers went door to door to make people aware about the Mission Youth and various other government schemes. They also interacted with unemployed youth and appealed to them to get more and more benefits from government livelihood schemes.BDC Chairperson of the area, CDPO, Tehsil Social welfare Officer and locals of Haribudha along with Panchs, Sarpanchs were also part of this trekking.
