Mega program organised to observe World Red Cross and World Thalassemia Day in Rajouri

Awareness on Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan also imparted

Rajouri : The District Administration Rajouri, on the directions of the Deputy Commissioner, Vikas Kundal today organised a mega programme to mark World Red Cross Day and World Thalassemia Day.
The event, held in the Conference Hall of the PWD Dakbunglow, witnessed a blood donation camp. The camp was jointly inaugurated by the Senior Superintendent of Police, Amrit Pal Singh and Additional Deputy Commissioner, Rajeev Kumar Khajuria.
Twenty units of blood were donated by volunteers to contribute towards saving lives and raising awareness about the importance of blood donation. Senior Superintendent of Police, Amrit Pal Singh also donated blood.
Later, scores of speakers addressed the gathering, sharing their insights and experiences on Thalassemia disease and the importance of blood donation. They emphasised on the need to raise awareness about Thalassemia and provide support to those affected by the disease. Awareness on Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan was also imparted to the participants on the occasion.
In his address, the Senior Superintendent of Police highlighted the importance of World Red Cross day and World Thalassemia day. He also stressed on the importance of blood donation, stating that it is a noble act that can save lives.
He urged the public to donate blood, as millions of ailing people require blood and there is no substitute for human blood.The SSP also highlighted the adverse effects of drug addiction on individuals, families, and society as a whole.
He also enumerated a number of measures being taken by the District Administration and Police Administration to curb the menace of drug abuse from the society and sought the active cooperation from the public in this regard.
Speaking on the occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Rajeev Kumar Khajuria stressed the need to adopt a collective approach towards addressing health issues like thalassemia, and stressed upon the importance of creating awareness and providing support to those affected by the disease.
District Social Welfare Officer, Wakeel Ahmed Bhatt also spoke on the importance of raising awareness about thalassemia, drug abuse and blood donation and urged everyone to work together towards building a more compassionate and supportive society.
Among the others present at the event were ASP, Vivek Shakhar; CMO, Dr Rajinder Sharma; DIO, Narinder Kumar, students and members of the civil society.
