Bandipora : The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Shakeel ul Rehman on Monday convened a meeting here to review flood preparedness and disaster management and discuss vital issues in case of any exigency. The meeting deliberated upon various issues, including current situation arising due to incessant rains, availability of men and machinery of all departments, role of zonal committees, situation of low lying areas, embankments and availability of Empty Cement bags.
The DC urged the concerned to be prepared for any eventuality and identify locations for relocation of people living in low lying areas in case of any exigency. The meeting was informed that there is sufficient availability of Life Saving Jackets, boats, Motorboats, pumps for dewatering, food grains, and other essential items.
The DC stressed for having proper arrangements in place and devising effective strategies to deal with flood like situations in the district. The meeting also deliberated upon other issues, including smooth Mobile network connectivity, uninterrupted power and water supply.
ACR and ADC were directed to monitor the situation and ensure precautionary measures are put in place well in advance. It was informed that the Control Room has been set up and the contact details of the officers have been put in public domain for timely and immediate response to any distress call.
