DC Doda Harvinder Singh reviews preparations for World Red Cross Day

Doda : Deputy Commissioner Doda, Harvinder Singh, who is also the President of the District Red Cross Society, on Friday chaired a meeting in the Mini Conference Hall of the DC Office Complex to review the arrangements for the celebration of World Red Cross Day scheduled on 8th May 2024. The meeting focused on a wide range of arrangements to ensure successful celebration of the event.
During the meeting, the stakeholders were informed about the activities planned for the day, including painting competition, symposium, awareness rallies, blood donation camps, first aid camps, cultural events, etc. The DC urged stakeholders to collect maximum funds for the Red Cross to serve humanity better. He also designated an assistant for the Red Cross from the Health Department to oversee the arrangements.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the Chief Education Officer to ensure maximum participation of students, especially those from the National Cadet Corps (NCC) and the National Service Scheme (NSS). The DC also encouraged the starting of classes for orphans and physically disabled children in schools.
He emphasized the importance of installing water coolers and creating donation sites for blankets and clothes in the town to assist those in need. Additionally, the DC informed the attendees that the theme for the upcoming celebration is “Keeping Humanity Alive.”
The stakeholders were further asked to put up banners at public places to promote World Red Cross Day and generate awareness about the importance of the event. They also interacted with the stakeholder officers virtually and directed them to display banners promoting World Red Cross Day in their jurisdictions.
ADC Doda, Assistant Commissioner Revenue (ACR) Doda, stakeholders from concerned departments and personnel from the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) also attended the meeting to discuss their roles in the upcoming celebration.
