Dir Agriculture, DDC member inaugurate Kisan Mela cum exhibition at Bishnah

Jammu : Director Agriculture Production and Farmers Welfare, Inder Jeet and District Development Council member, Bishnah, Dharminder Kumar today inaugurated one day Kisan mela cum exhibition here at Bishnah.Director Horticulture Ram Savak; Director Animal Husbandry Vivek Sharma; Director Command Area, Rajinder Singh Tara; Director Sheep Husbandry, Dr Sanjeev besides BDC Chairman Bishnah Surjeet Singh, BDC Chairman Miran Sahib, Daleep Kumar and Municipal Committee Chairman, Rajan Sharma were also present.The Director Agriculture along with other guests inspected different stalls of agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Sericulture, Horticulture (P&M), Sheep Husbandry, Fisheries and KVK, besides stalls of private players dealing with agriculture inputs, farm machinery and organic products displayed at the exhibition. The stalls displayed and highlighted various farmers’ welfare schemes and programmes.DDC Counselor, Dharminder Kumar, said that such melas provide a suitable platform to the farmers to interact with agri experts, learn about the latest innovations and then adopt of the same in the field to ultimately achieve the goal of raising the farm income.
Director Agriculture exhorted upon the farmers to take advantage of schemes under Atam Nirbhar Bharat and various centrally sponsored schemes for diversified modern scientific farming. He said adopting methods like integrated farming, organic farming, exotic vegetable cultivation and farm mechanization will surely pave the way for doubling income of the farmers. Efforts are being made to develop agriculture as market linked business by ensuring processing, value addition, branding and packaging, he added.As Per Instructions of Principal Secretary Agriculture Production & Farmers Welfare, Navin Kumar Choudhary this mela was first of its own kind in which farmers were educated in small groups regarding latest Agri innovations by the way of live demos at different stalls through electronic mode using LED Walls.Meanwhile, different wings and sections of Agriculture Department like Plant Health Clinic, Agriculture Engineering, Apiculture, Mushroom, Spawn Production, Agronomist Vegetables, Floriculture, Seed Analytical Lab, Soil Testing Lab displayed their activities and achievements in the exhibition.Joint Director Agriculture (Marketing), K.K Sharma; Joint Director (Extension) Shahid Iqbal; Joint Director(Apiculture & Mushroom) Manzoor Ahmad Nazki; Chief Agriculture Officer Jammu, A.S. Reen and other senior officers were present.
