Principal Chief Conservator of Forest calls on Governor

Principal Chief Conservator of Forest Dr Savita Sharma called on Governor Bandaru Dattatraya at Raj Bhavan Shimla, today.The Governor congratulated her on becoming the first-ever women Indian Forest Service officer to head the Forest Department in Himachal Pradesh. He expressed the satisfaction that the people of the State have always been partners in the conservation of nature, as a result, Himachal has registered an increase of 333.52 Sq km. green forest cover by the Indian Forest Survey Report-2019 released in December last year,

Shimla : Principal Chief Conservator of Forest Dr Savita Sharma called on Governor Bandaru Dattatraya at Raj Bhavan Shimla, today.The Governor congratulated her on becoming the first-ever women Indian Forest Service officer to head the Forest Department in Himachal Pradesh. He expressed the satisfaction that the people of the State have always been partners in the conservation of nature, as a result, Himachal has registered an increase of 333.52 Sq km. green forest cover by the Indian Forest Survey Report-2019 released in December last year, due to which Himachal has ranked fifth among the leading states of the country. He congratulated the efforts of the department and said that it should continue in future also.On the occasion, Dr Savita Sharma apprised that there was about 67 percent forest land in the state and priority would be given to convert 33 percent of the vacant land into green cover. By the year 2030, a target has been set to increase the green area of the state from around 27 percent to 30 percent, for which the department would make concerted efforts, she added.
