Ensure holistic development of Children and their rights : Sudha Devi

 

Shimla : The Department of Social Justice & Empowerment, Directorate of Women and Child Development, Himachal Pradesh in collaboration with National Institute of Medical Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS) is organizing a 4 days training programme from 05th December, 2023 to 08th December, 2023 for 67 child protection functionaries including the staff of District Child Protection Units and Child Care Institutions of districts Shimla, Solan, Sirmour, Kinnaur, Kangra, Hamirpur, Chamba and Una under Mission Vatsalya Scheme.

The objective of the training programme is to sensitize participants on children and childhood experiences, and enabling them to develop an understanding of child rights-based approaches. Ms. Sheila Ramaswamy Technical and Operational head of National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS) is the resource person at Shimla zone and Ms. Kriti Tikku, Project Manager, SAMVAD for Kangra Zone.

Ms. M. Sudha Devi Secretary (SJ&E) to the Government of Himachal Pradesh has formally presided over the opening session here today. In her inaugural address, she emphasized the need to develop the knowledge and skills required for child protection functionaries to implement legal provisions in the child’s best interest through application-based learning techniques.

She further evoked the participants to develop individual action plan for children to ensure their holistic development and their needs for protection, mental health and rehabilitation.Ms Rupali Thakur, Director, Women and Child Development, called upon the participants to learn and understand the child psychological, emotional and behavioural problems during this training programme.
