Our Motto to develop Road Safety Culture in Himachal: Mukesh Agnihotri

Shimla : Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri today flagged off the Road Safety Walk from the State secretariat till the Scandal point, Shimla. He said that to reduce the accidents in the State, special awareness campaigns were being organised throughout the State.
We are committed to develop road safety as a “Culture” amongst the public of the State and other road users so that frequency of road traffic accident could be reduced and precious human lives be saved”, he remarked. All possible measures were being taken to reduce the number of road traffic accident and resultant fatalities and injuries.
He said that 90 percent of road accidents take place due to human error and the motive of organizing such walks was to make aware people regarding the traffic rules and initiatives of the government. He said that the transport department was earnestly working in creating mass awareness and as a result there has been a 13 percent decline in road accidents and the credit goes to the Transport department.
He said that along with the Intelligent Traffic Management system the CCTV cameras will also be installed all over. Further, regular awareness camps are also being organized through various stakeholders like Taxi Unions, Heavy Goods Vehicle Unions, NGOs as well as general public He also appreciated the secretariat employees to make the walk a success like every year.
