Rayat Bahra University yoga camp at Fragrance Garden
Kharar : The Rayat Bahra University organised a yoga event in celebration of International Yoga Day at Fragrance Garden, Sector-36 Chandigarh to encourage, inspire and motivate tricity people of all ages and backgrounds to improve their mental and physical health by practising Yoga.
Students of the dental college and NCC/NSS volunteers also celebrated yoga day at the university.At the event from 5.30 to 6.30 am today Yoga Trainer Bharti Yog Sanstha demonstrated to the audience proper Asanas of Yoga.
Over 100 RBU students besides 300 other participants attended the event organised in collaboration with the Directorate of Ayush Chandigarh and Chandigarh Municipal Corporation.Gurvinder Singh Bahra, Chancellor of the RBU, said while it is an important source of exercise and healthy activity millions join in and practice on a daily basis.
For many, these routines are a way to connect the body, mind and soul in a way that has existed for centuries.Dr Parvinder Singh, Vice-Chancellor, said Yoga is considered to be an ancient practice that originated 5,000 years ago in India. Yoga was developed as a way to interconnect the mind, body and soul to step closer into enlightenment.
As the practice became popular in the west, it became popularised as an exercise and relaxation method, with claims to help the body’s general well-being, alleviate physical injuries and chronic pain.
