Guru Nanak Dev University to establish the International Student Chapter of the American Chemical Society

Amritsar : The Chemical Society, Department of Chemistry, Guru Nanak Dev University has been awarded 300USD by the American Chemical Society to establishthe International Student chapter.

ACS is providing this financial assistance to carry out Chemical Sciences outreach activities within the department and in the region.Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar is the first state university of Punjab that is going to establish this International Chapter.

The Chemical Society of the Department of Chemistry, Guru Nanak Dev University is an official student-run body that came into existence with the establishment of the Department in 1971 since then it is involved in the organization of student-centred scientific activities which include, research lectures, Induction programs, Cheeks (an annual chemistry fest), and many more. All the students who seek admission in the department become members of this society.

ACS International Student Chapters are organizations for college/university students studying the chemical sciences. Members participate in a wide range of programs and activities that enhance their experience and prepare them for successful careers. University of Delhi, CSIR-CSIO, PEC University of Technology, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, and Aligarh Muslim University are some of the other prominent institutions where ACS International student chapters have been established.
